Early Intervention

The IU9 Early Intervention Program serves eligible young children, from age 3 to entrance to school age, and their families. Eligible children are those with a diagnosed disability or developmental delay who also are demonstrating a need for specially designed instruction.

  • available services include: specialized instruction, hearing support, vision support, speech/language support, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and transportation
  • classrooms located in Bradford, Coudersport, Emporium, Kane, Ridgway, Smethport, and St. Marys
  • cost: free to eligible young children in need
  • eligibility: determined by a multidisciplinary team evaluation (MDE)
  • program options: consultative services, itinerant services, part-time classroom, full-time classroom or combination
  • referrals made by parents, doctors, agencies, etc.
  • staff includes certified teachers and therapists
