PDE PE Teacher Workshop

Tuesday, September 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at IU9 in Smethport

Nick Slotterback, Health and Physical Education Advisor for the Pennsylvania Department of Education, is increasing the PDE capacity in the delivery of resources, training, and communication within the field. With that in mind, Nick will be at IU9 on September 27, 2022, to meet with PE teachers from the area.

This hands-on training will examine the proposed new skills-based standards that reflect current trends, practices, and concepts, as well as appropriate terminology. Participants will have time to work with the new outcomes, apply them to areas in their own curricula, and will be aware of how the shift to skills-based standards will encourage all students to be lifelong and healthy learners.

This session also provides in-depth training on the PA HPED skills and knowledge-based outcomes. Participants will learn how to interpret the outcomes and then create a scope and sequence followed by a review of a sample health and physical education lesson plan.
