Business & Management

The Business Office provides budgeting, accounting, payroll, reporting, and audit services for all Intermediate Unit Nine programs. Our funding is through an indirect cost charge to each program. In a typical year, the Business Office provides fiscal control to 60 to 75 programs, grants, and funds. About half of all program revenue comes in the form of state and federal grants and subsidies with the balance funded by joint contributions from the 14 school districts.

Office of Management Services

The office of Management Services provides several areas of assistance to the local education agencies (LEA) through insurance trust, policy development, transportation and cooperative purchasing.

Cooperative Purchasing

IU9 Management Services provides cooperative purchasing services to all constituent public schools in Cameron, Elk, McKean, and Potter counties. Total purchases exceed one million dollars each year in the following areas:

Information for School Districts

IU9 provides information for superintendents regarding teacher certification issues, cafeteria operations, contracted transportation, employee benefits, and budget and finance related issues.

IU9 also coordinates with various organizations including PSBA, PASBO, and PAIU to provide relevant trainings and workshops.

Trainings and Workshops

IU9 Administration & Management Services provides workshops for school board members, administrators, and other non-teaching school personnel. Additionally, we provide training for district personnel in accounting and membership reporting. IU9 also provides E-rate workshops to assist districts with telecommunications funding.
